what is the best flea treatment for a cat with flea allergies (dermatitis)?
Advantage and Frontline are to work for a month, as you said. They are loaded with toxic chemicals, but I believe they are needed to prevent fleas, mosquitos, and ticks! (Frontline Plus and Advantix cover ticks also). However, I would be afraid to use these products onece a week!! There is talk about using them less than once a month, but I tried that on my dogs and they were scratching a little. I didn’t see fleas, but felt safer using it once a month. I think you NEED to see a vet if you have not. I would not give it once a week! Too dangerous! The cheap brands do not work, as you found out. Flea collars are useless and dangerous – very toxic. Can cause pesticide overdose, and I imagine giving him the treatments so often can also! You need to treat the environment also. If your cat goes in and out, fleas will return with him. Here is some information to help you. As you can see, it mentions Advantage, Revolution and Frontline as monthly remedies. I personally prefer Advantage. However
