What is the best format to save and then send e-mail attachments?
The best format to send an e-mail attachment is one in which the recipient can read. If you send a friend a Microsoft Word document as an attachment and the friend does not have this software on his/her computer, your friend can not open it. Generally, documents saved and sent in ASCII plain-text format (.TXT) can be opened by most recipients, however, formatting may be lost resulting in the distortion of the italicized and bold text from the original word processing document. Sending attachments containing graphics via JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) would probably result in the most success for you (and your e-mail recipients) as it is the most universally readable format.
