What is the best gun for hunting coyotes?
The best answer is probably the gun you can hit, and kill them with. If you are a deadly shot with a .22 LR, then that might be the gun…though considered too light for coyotes. I’ve killed them with a .22 LR, a .22 Hornet, a 22/250, a 30/06 and, believe it or not, a .300 Weatherby. But to me, most practical would be the 22/250, a good bolt action rifle with a minimum 6 power scope (preferably a variable 3x-9x or 4x-12x) sighted in to hit point of aim at 200 yards. If you can keep your shots inside one inch at 100 yards, from a benchrest, you’ll be able to hit coyotes out to 300 yards or farther. But it takes lots of practice. I probably shoot 200 or more rounds at paper targets for every one I shoot at an animal.
