What is the best method for thawing a frozen turkey?
I just took mine out today and put it in the fridge. It’s the best method that will ensure even thawing. Make sure you turn it upside-down some of the time. You could leave it out, turning occasionally, during the day and then put it in the fridge. You just don’t want it to get to room temperature because the little microbes love to multiply then. Who wants that? I have had large birds before and started with refrigerator thawing, and then the day before I wanted to cook it, I put it on the counter and would rotate it to upside-down for a while, then back up. Even then, the inside of the bird can still be frozen. Removing the organs helps it to thaw more quickly, so another thing you could do is to go ahead and prep it. Remove the organs and wash it, then you could even season it before you put it back in the fridge to wait for cooking.
