You can have a good time here in Italy at just about any time. There are some festivals and events that you can only see in the winter like the Christmas markets in bolzano, Trento and other towns, for example. Carnevale is mostly in February at various locations around the country. However, the best times to visit for the combination of weather and lower crowds is either late April through mid June or September/October. Everything is basically up and running and you’re either before or just after the peak tourist season. Prices tend to be a little lower than in the peak months of the tourist season too.
