There are several options here but the most common choices are Cascade Cedar, also known as gorilla hair, and the fine mulches do well in high wind areas. While Cascade Cedar has the reputation, Rocky Top has developed a mix of our light and dark brown fine mulch that is similar in color and texture to the Cascade Cedar and stays down nearly as well for half the price. It also keeps its color more than twice as long as Cascade Cedar. Mulches not suitable for high wind include Rocky Top Cedar, Medium Pine Bark, and Little Pine Bark. more
