What is the best non-chain steak house in Chicago?
I hope two locations doesn’t count as a chain, but I had to post anyway because I love Harry Caray’s. Even if you aren’t a Cubs fan, the food is worth going for. First of all, the aged steaks are so flavorful and tender. I always get a rare steak, but my husband is one of the medium-well people, and his steak still looks great. My best friend swears the pork chops are the best, but I go for the beef. You can order meat plain (which I prefer – with good beef, who needs to dress them up), but you can also order them Vesuvio style, with peppercorn coating, or with Gorgonzola coating. Second, the atmosphere is fun, and the wait staff are great. We have always had excellent service anytime we’ve been there. They have are attentive without “hovering.” You have to order salad or potatoes separately, but all meals come with freshly made pasta. As for other sides, my husband and I split a baked potato or a side of broccoli
