What is the best RMS wattage to use for 6×9 speakers?

If you look up the rms rating of your head unit you’ll probably find it is 17-22w rms per channel. Many HU’s only produce 10-15w of usable power which is fine for a basic speaker. If I were looking for a speaker to run straight off a head unit I would want something that is rated for relatively low power. If you have a speaker rated for 100w rms it’s fairly obvious it is going to perform well driven with a lot of power. On the other hand, if you have a 6×9 rated for 40-50w rms it makes sense that they are going to perform better driven with low power. Here is a selection of 6×9’s rated for 50w rms or less: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/viewcat.p… I see you are in the UK. If you can’t order from that site I hope it will at least give you some ideas.
