What is the best time to visit Scotland to do some walking in the highlands?

I’ve done walks in Scotland throughout the year – never the Highlands though. It all depends on how experienced a walker you are, and what you want from a walk – I’m more the ‘head up Ben Lomond with a picnic in my rugsack’ kind of girl… There’s moderate walks exploring the Lochs, and real hill walking, which can be a bit too ‘adventurous’ for some once the weather becomes less agreeable. And yes, it does rain a lot in Scotland… I’d start here, for walks in the Northern Highlands: http://walking.visitscotland.com/walks/n… and here for Western Highlands: http://walking.visitscotland.com/walks/w… This site has a couple of walking links: http://www.visithighlands.com/seeanddo/a… Above all, once you’re there check the weather
