What is the best topping for a Bagel?

Well, for me, it would depend on whether I wanted something sweet or something savory. For sweet: - Any kind of the fruit swirled cream cheese flavors, like blueberry or strawberry. Or mix a preserve into regular cream cheese to come up with tons of other combos. Try raspberry or blackberry. You could also try mixing in jellies or marmalade, like peach, apple, or orange. You could also skip the cream cheese entirely, and just top with one of the jams or jellies. - Peanut butter. This can be good stand alone, but also topped with other things, such as dried fruits, sliced bananas or apples, or honey. - Apple or pumpkin butter. - Cinnamon and sugar. To get it to stick, spread with a little butter, then dust with cinnamon and sugar. Sounds especially good if you toast the bagel first. For savory: - Herbs sprinkled on regular cream cheese give lots of flavor. Chive is especially good, or you could try a little fresh basil. - Smoked salmon.
