My girlfriend and I just bought a new bed and mattress. She suffers with Muscular Dystrophy and often has restless if not sleepless nights. I have for years suffered with back pain in the mornings (not sure if it’s due to our previous mattresses, the lifting, or my lifestyle otherwise). Anyway, having tried a few, we agreed that the memory-foam mattress seems to draw us in and we felt quite claustrophobic as a result. Do NOT go for the Silent Night ‘Mira-coil’. I was told by a salesman that all they did was turn the frame of a normal mattress through 90 degrees and hey-presto! the new miracle in bedding. When I injured my back, I got a floatation mattress. It’s like a waterbed that’s stuffed inside of a regular mattress. It was wonderful! I don’t move around at all when I sleep on them, and I wake up stiff and sore.

Hiya – we have had our mattress for about 2 years, of which I thought was perfect when we first bought it. My back and hip started hurting and I just couldn’t seem to get comfortable – then my sister told me about the Memory foam mattress topper – well I bought one and they are brilliant – no problem since – as they are on top of your original mattress it also saves the wear and tear of your other mattress. I would recommend them to anyone..http://www.dunelm-mill.com/default.asp Smart Foam Mattress Topper – Mine was £110.00 for a double and it’s about 2 inches thick. If you go to the web site and enter Smart Foam but the price as gone back to the original I bought mine a few months ago when a sale was on.
