It is a grey firm rubber block and on one side has spikey bits that you brush the cat with, and on the other side it is flat with ridges on half and dots on half. This is for the furniture,. I use the spikey bit on the carpet and it works wonders! I use this in conjunction with the vaccuum cleaner and it is great!!!! The block cost me $10. I hope you can find one. The best vaccuum for hair is one of those old upright hoover types as it has the bristles underneath that actually beat up the carpet and brush up the hair into the vaccuum. You have to hoover the carpet very slowly and give it a chance to have a go at all the carpet, but gee it works well!
