What is the best way of travelling from Miami airport to Fort Lauderdale cruise terminal, and back?

Renting a car for a day would probably be less expensive than taxis, and would let you stop for a leisurely meal, take a scenic route, do some shopping, and so on. But do you want to do all that driving in a strange city? Traffic in the Miami Airport area is god-awful, with lots of construction delays. And if you get lost, most people won't speak English. So that choice depends on your level of comfort with driving strange roads and your degree of desire to make stops and scenic detours along the way. There ARE shuttles between Miami Airport and Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport. There are also shuttles from Fort Lauderdale Airport to Port Everglades Cruise Terminals. Unless things have changed, there are NOT direct shuttles from MIA to Port Everglades. Another alternative is TriRail service. This commuter rail line begins 'way up north' near Palm Beach, runs through Fort Lauderdale with a station serving the airport, and then continues down to Miami Airport, where it connects with ...  more
