1. Stay away from the Pawn Shop 2. If at all possible, get a certified appraisal 3. DO NOT SELL to a diamond merchant, diamond vendor, diamond salesman. These are in a category which far exceeds used car salesmen. 4. Sell it to some other member of the public. Trying EBay may be an option, I do not know. But they take a cut, so you must have the correct price, don’t do a give-away. 5. When you ship it to the buyer, you MUST do this by registered mail, insured to cover loss or theft. 6. Do not ship until you are absolutely sure the buyer’s payment has cleared. In this instance, I would not accept credit card. I think Cashier’s Check from a bank is best, but some financial expert may have a better idea. Remember, there are all kinds of scam artists operating out there nowadays. They particularly like to rip off someone doing some transaction like this. That’s why the foregoing precautions are necessary.
