What is the climate like in colonial Georgia?
Consistent climate data was not present until the first permanent colony settlement of James Oglethorpe which was located in the mouth of the Savannah river in the 1733 time frame. By that time, the climate was very similar to what it is today which is very mild winters and long hot / humid summers. Moving forward, it is theorized by some that Georgia’s climate will revert back to what it was in the early 1500’s, but this climate theory is very controversial as of 2009.
