What is the closest planet to earth that scientist think can support life?

(if u mean close to Earth by distance it would be Mars) but European astronomers have spotted the most “Earth-like” planet but is outside our solar system. This planet orbits around a red dwarf star called Gliese 581. The star could be like our sun but is smaller and deemer. The planet is rocky but because it is found in a zone close to a star, the water could exist in a liquid form (Liquid water is a key ingredient for life!) This is because they estimated the temperature which is about 0 to 40 degrees celcius (like the Earth). Unlike other planets scientists have spotted within our solar system, this one is small. It’s probably five times more massive than our planet Earth, with a radius of 1.5 bigger. Here is a picture of the planet and the red star, Gliese 581
