What is the condition of the countys stormwater system?
Much of the county developed in the 1950s, 60s and 70s prior to any requirements for stormwater controls. There are approximately 250 miles of stormwater pipes that are more than 40 years old. The monetary value of the entire stormwater pipe system is $990,000,000. Until the “dedicated penny” was established in fiscal year 2006, there was not a significant or continuous reinvestment effort on these pipes. Many are reaching the end of their useful service life and some are in failure.
