what is the controversy?
There are more and more communities questioning the wisdom of adding fluoride to municipal water systems. Originally thought to improve children’s teeth evidence has shown that dental improvement was happening at the same rate in non-fluoridated areas as in areas that regularly added fluoride. Dental fluorosis or mottling or pitting of the teeth is a side effect of high levels of fluoride. There is evidence of fluoride absorption causing elevated bone fractures, bone disease and bone cancer.
