What is the cost of the EMS levy?
It is important to remember that the EMS levy is not a new tax, but that it requires a regular periodic renewal every 10 years. The approved EMS levy will reset to 50 cents per $1000 of assessed value (AV). This is the same amount that was approved by voters in 2000 when it was last renewed. You are currently paying 48.5 cents per $1000 AV. So this does raise the collection rate 1.5 cents but you will realisticly be paying less in EMS taxes because the assessed values on the Key Peninsula have dropped so much this year.
