The currency in South Africa is the Rand. It is easily purchased at banks in the UK. We always recommend that you take some currency with you for arrival just to cover any immediate expense like purchasing water/drinks etc. Credit and charge cards are widely accepted, including American Express, Bank of America, Diners, MasterCard, Standard Bank Card and Visa.
