What is the current disciplinary inquiry process put in place by the association to ensure ethical practice by social workers who are members of the association?
The Singapore Association of Social Workers has a Code of Professional Ethics drawn up to define the boundaries of “ethical social work practice” that social workers must adhere to as well as to ensure ethical practice. This can be found at http://www.sasw.org.sg/sasw/id21__sasw_code_of_ethics.htm. If there had been a breach of the code of professional ethics, a formal complaint may be made to the association’s Professional Ethics Board at ethics@sasw.org.sg and/or to the President at president@sasw.org.sg. Upon receipt of any complaint of such a breach, the Professional Ethics Board will review, investigate and make recommendations to the Executive Committee (EXCO). Disciplinary actions will be taken when deemed necessary. To view the disciplinary inquiry and appeals process, please visit http://www.sasw.org.sg/sasw/id21_inquiryappealsprocess.htm.
