nano technology is an umbrella term incorporating all areas of science and technology which works with components of nanometer sizes. a nanometer is 1 billion times smaller than a meter, so roughly the size of 1/2 a pin point. Computer science works with this technology at the computer chip level where as a biologist may work with nanosized delivery systems to deliver drugs more specifically. This field is ever growing and is being utilized in many facits of science, such as : physics, biology, and chemistry. The term can refer to any technology which utilizes something under 1 micrometer (um) to do some sort of operation. i personally utilize nanotechnology with biological systems by designing nano sized spheres which can encapsulate drugs and get them specifically to their targets to avoid side effects and toxicity.
