What is the difference between a Bengal and a Savannah Cat?
Savannah and Bengal cats are both domestic / wild cat hybrids, but they are quite different in some ways. Savannah cats are spottted and Bengal cats have rosettes, and Savannah cats can be twice as large. Even in breeds that look similar like the Bengal and Savannah, can actually be quite different.
Bengals descend from the Asian Leopard Cat whose small rounded ears, large rounded eyes and round shaped head are a sharp contrast to the leggy and long Savannah with taller ears, smaller eyes and a more angular face. The Savannah breed standard calls for a cat with long legs, long neck, and long lean, muscular body, and proportionally small head. The face is angular and the ears are large and upright. The eyes have a flattened upper eyelid, which gives a hooded appearance. The nose is strong and puffy in appearance. While Bengals can have two-toned rosetted spots, Savannahs should have solid spotting.
