With a cordless house phone, you are limited to a specific area to use it depending on the phone's wireless range. You can't take it out of the house and to a cofee shop and expect to hear a dial tone. With a cell phone, you can not only do that, but travel to other countries and still be able to use the same number. You can also access your email, surf the web, and pay your bills with a lot of the new cell phones that come with wi-fi built in.  more

A cell phone is a portable phone than can go with you anywhere. A cell phone works off of cell towers that are placed around a city and throughout the country, the signal bounces between these towers as you are moving about with your phone. The cell phone receives a signal from the tower, the signal continues to go between the cell phone and the towers, so that you continue to receive the signal. A cell phone can leave the state, it can leave the country of origin. A cell phone works anywhere you take it. It has a battery that is small that fits into the back of the phone and when the phone is not in use, the phone is plugged into a charger at home or can be plugged into a car charger in the car. A car charger is plugged into the cigarette lighter to receive power to charge the cell phone. Also, a cell phone has a full address book as part of the phone, as well as the fact that many cell phones now, can take pictures, send email, go online, chat, play music and videos and store data.

While a cordless home phone, has to stay at the home. The range varies between cordless home phone manufacturers, but the phone usually can only go to the end of your block before the signal is lost. A cordless home phone has a base that sends the signal to the phone. The phone receives the signal and continues to receive the signal while you are in the home or within range of the base. A cordless home phone has a battery inside of it, so that it does not need to be plugged into a unit and again, the base charges the phone when it is not in use. A cordless home phone may have a simple phone number memory in it, but it can not really be used for anything else but making calls from home.
