What is the difference between a water-based personal lubricant and a silicone personal lubricant?

0

A water-based personal lubricant is the most commonly purchased lubricant because it is gentle, water soluble and washes off the skin and fabric easily, using soap and warm water. Water-based lubricants will absorb into the skin and usually require more than one application when compared to silicone lubricants. Water-based lubricants are compatible with most toys and easy to clean. Silicone personal lubricant is more expensive than water-based lubricant and is silkier, longer lasting and typically does not require more than one application. Silicone lubricant is waterproof and can be used in the shower, bath and swimming pool. While silicone lubricant can be washed off with soap and warm water, it has been known to stain some fabrics — be careful with bed sheets, clothing and tile surfaces.
