What is the difference between aerobic exercise and anaerobic exercise?
Aerobic is like jogging, anaerobic is like weight-lifting. Anaerobic exercise, which occurs when your muscle cells need more energy to work than you’re providing them with oxygen, produces lactic acid in your muscles, which actually kills muscle cells. Your body responds to these destroyed muscle cells by doubling up when it grows new cells. Hence, your muscles increase size and strength when you lift weights. Aerobic exercise, on the other hand, is, causes your muscles to become better at prolonged, easier workouts. Your cardiovascular systems get the greatest benefits, because the prolonged work for your heart makes it stronger.
