What is the difference between an “Amendment” and “Addendum”?
An Amendment is a written and at least notarized (if not necessarily recorded) alteration to the existing terms and conditions of a mortgage note/trust deed/land contract. An Addendum is simply an extension to a written document that may or may not need to be notarized and/or recorded. The Addendum is regarded as supporting or additional information to enhance the original document and can be added to the contract at any-time, even at the point of origination of the original document.
