While an art gallery and the art dealer make their living by commercialization of art, an art gallery (or the gallerist) is also involved in curating and organizing exhibitions at an art space. In other words, while the gallery role encompasses the function of the art dealer, it also incorporates the role of the exhibitor of artworks. To give futher clarity to the functions, an art dealer is sometimes also referred to as a “private art dealer”. In recent times, certain museums, like the Tate, have also began using the term “gallery” as part of their name, to give them a more contemporary touch.  more
