What is the difference between an F1 and F1B doodle?

See above question about what an F1 is… then the “B” added to the generation means Backcross. Backcrossing is when you take either breed that created the F1 and breed it back to an F1. Example: If you breed a Golden to a Standard Poodle you would get a F1 Goldendoodle. (50% Golden, 50% Poodle) If you breed a Goldendoodle to a Standard Poodle you would have an F1B Goldendoodle. (25% Golden, 25% Standard Poodle #1 and 50% Standard poodle #2 OR 25% Golden and 75% Standard Poodle) With these percentages given, keep in mind that individual puppies will not”line up” so you will not see a perfect balance of Golden and Poodle in the puppies (F1=50% X 50% and F1B 25% X 75%). Some of the puppies will show traits/attributes of the poodle(s) and others may show traits/attributes of the Golden. Typically in doodle breeding you will not see the Breed that is backcrossed to be the Golden or Labs. The breeders are usually doing to backcross to “correct” or increase non shed qualities of a coat.
