What is the difference between an incomplete grade (IF, IC, ID, etc), NR, and a standard grade?

An incomplete grade (IF, IC, ID, etc.) is given at the discretion of the professor. Students have two semesters, including summer, to make up the missing work before the grade defaults to the indicated grade—the IF becomes an F, the ID becomes a D, etc. A student cannot graduate with incomplete grades on the record. An NR grade means, “not reported.” The professor did not submit a grade. A student cannot graduate with an NR on his/her record. It is imperative that students contact the professor immediately to have this problem corrected, even if it means earning a failing grade.
