What is the difference between Backtesting on Fidelity.com and the desktop application?
Backtesting on Fidelity.com is a simplified version of Wealth-Lab Pro. Backtesting on Fidelity.com is designed to give active investors the opportunity to learn more about backtesting and decide if backtesting is an investment strategy they would like to pursue. Wealth-Lab Pro is a complete platform within Fidelity’s Active Trader Service software offering extended capabilities including the ability to develop and backtest customized trading strategies based on technical analysis. With the desktop application, you can backtest an entire group of stocks or an index of stocks in real time or with static data to see how they’ve performed over a given period of time, and whenever a trading strategy that you’re interested in generates a signal, you will receive an alert. You can use that alert as a starting point to do more research or place a trade.
