The difference is basic is in contrast to applied (in which community is mobilisation categorized. Basic sociology seeks to make discoveries through observations and analysis of sociol groups w/o attempting to make changes in those groups. In another words, basic and applied goes hand in hand, one is more a foundation than the other. Basic being the foundation and the applied put to the test without changing the scenerio setting sorta speak. Hope this helps. Example; Sociology goes hand in hand with Psychology, one gives an exterior and the other gives an interior of what it takes to make sense of our own behavior and the world around us. more
