What is the difference between Botox and dermal fillers like Juvederm, Restylane or Radiesse?
Botox is not a dermal filler. Botox relaxes muscle activity and is usually used to treat moderate to severe lines caused by frown lines between the eyebrows (the glabellar area). The forehead and crow’s feet are also popular treatment areas. Treatment temporarily diminishes these lines for a smoother more uniform appearance. The clinic utilizes Botox, in conjunction with other products, to achieve facial sculpting. Dermal fillers are used to fill in folds, creases and wrinkles. Some dermal fillers, like Juvederm, can be used to “plump up” the lips and add volume to the skin.
