What is the difference between breathing and celluar respiration?

Breathing is totaly a physical process. It is the exchnage of respiratory gases (Oxygen and carbon dioxide)between organism and the environment by simple diffusion.Where as Cellular respiration is abio chemical process. It is the oxidation of absorbed nutrients(like glucose, aminoacid, fatty acid and glycerol ) are oxidised to release energy in the cells. It has two main steps.Glycolysis- break down of glucose into pyruvic acid. This happens in cytoplasm of cells. Then pyruvic acid is taken into mitochondria where it is oxidised using powerful oxidising enzymes to give ATP +CO2+H2O.(Kreb’s cycle). In yeast and other microbes the fate of pyruvic acid will be different.Either lactic acid or Ethyl alcohol is formed. That is anaerobic respiration(in the absence of molecular oxygen).Lactic acid is formed in our muscles also when work excessively, as the cells are not getting sufficient oxygen, they respire anaerobically.Hope you got it.
