BEET SUGAR This is retailed under the name of Silver Spoon in the UK and marketed by the British Sugar Corporation. Usually it is pure beet sugar, but sometimes, if the beet sugar crop is inadequate in quantity, there can be a little cane sugar added to it. Reactions to cane sugar and beet sugar are quite separate, as they come from totally different plants. Please note that Tate & Lyle sugar has both cane sugar and beet sugar in most samples. CANE SUGAR This is a Jamaican, Trinidad or other West Indian demerara sugar. Muscovado is also satisfactory. Avoid also brown sugar, candy, chocolate, ice cream, molasses, raw sugar, sorghum, sucrose & turbinado .sugar.
