What is the difference between conventional refinishing and the non-spray, low odor approach?

Conventional refinishing involves cleaning the tub intensively, repairing the chips and rough spots, masking off the rest of the bathroom, and eventually spraying it with an acrylic urethane. We then sand and polish it the next day. It is similar to repainting a car. The non-spray method also requires the same cleaning and repair of chips and rough spots, but instead of spraying on the finish, we use a hand applicator to apply a polymer. The work is usually done in one day. Either approach will leave the bathtub looking shiny, beautiful, and brand new. The protective nature of the polymer finish allows us to resurface kitchen sinks.
