What is the difference between direct and indirect sunlight?
When you are shopping for plants and trees, it is always a good idea to ask about the sunlight requirements for the plant in question. Direct sunlight is the kind that occurs from about 10 in the morning until about 5 in the afternoon during summer months. It has the most energy in it, and plants that need quite a bit of energy for growth benefit from large amounts of direct sunlight. Indirect sunlight happens in the hours just after sunrise or just before sunset. If a plant requires indirect sunlight that means that it does better with less light, rather than more.
