What is the difference between drilled rotors and slotted rotors?
I asked the same question about a week ago because I am also torn between the 2. Most of the answers said that cross-drilled or slotted rotors really didn’t make much difference in your ability to brake. Although the air that’s able to get to your brakes via the slots/holes *will* cool the rotors and pads down, it will not increase your stopping power. As for “being able to afford it”, the price difference between those and regular rotors is negligable… not that much of a difference. If you are looking for increased performance and price is not an issue, check out a big brake kit for your car (yes, that’s what they’re called, I know it sounds stupid). I looked into putting a one for my car, but it is a $2,000 upgrade, and I’m not willing to invest that on my every day driver (at least not for brakes!). Cross-drilled or slotted rotors are more for aesthetics than performance, unless you are completely overhauling your brake system (as in, with the larger brakes). Best of luck.
