The difference between fashion and style is fundamentally evident. Fashion attitudes are irrelevant. Style is more complex. It is unusual, rare, has a profound base and comes from an acquired knowledge of cultural backgrounds. There is nothing in the world more fascinating than Wallis Simpson wearing a Courrèges vinyl trench coat in the 70s. Truly, an image of what style is about!!! Totem has worked with many established names, yet perhaps is most known for promoting new talent that is often on the ‘fringes’ of fashion. Are young designers the most exciting for you? No, certainly not. A capacity to create does not lie within any one age group. From my own experience it is sometimes more exhausting to handle a 20-year-old designer than to face the needs of a fashion group. The age of the designer does not matter.
