What is the difference between fault-block and folded mountains?

0

In folded mountains the layers of rock show curves where exposed and the top of the mountains if not eroded will show curves. If fault-block, there is a shear line with the layers on one side of the fault completely out of line with the other. The best example known to many people is the Tetons next to Jackson Hole Wyoming. The east side above the lake is the fault line and is very abrupt rising from the flat valley to the east while the west side slopes off – the block has tilted.
