What is the difference between fertility awareness method, natural family planning, the rhythm method, and the Billings Ovulation Method?
The rhythm method is based on a mathematical formula based on previous cycles to predict future fertile times. It is outdated, and has a high failure rate. With the Billings Ovulation Method, women observe cervical fluid only. Natural family planning (NFP) and the fertility awareness method (FAM) both observe BBT and cervical fluid. With FAM, couples will use a barrier during fertile tiles if they are trying to avoid pregnancy. With NFP, couples will abstain during fertile times to avoid pregnancy.
