What is the difference between Fire Protection Technology and the Fire Training Academy (FTA)?
• Fire Protection Technology classes are for people who are interested in working towards an Associate of Applied Science Degree. • The Fire Training Academy is a program for people who wish to receive their Basic Fire Fighter certification. Where is the FTA located? The ACC Fire Training Academy shares space with the City of Austin Fire Academy and is located at 4800-F Shaw Lane in SE Austin. How much does it cost to attend the FTA? The cost for the academy varies per student, estimating at about $3500.00 for tuition and fees. • Tuition is based on your residency status (in-district, out-of-district).
