What is the difference between guided imagery, meditation and hypnosis?
Guided imagery or guided meditation gives a general impression of a better future and overall well being. This general impression is directed by someone elses voice. Meditation is the emptying or relaxing of the conscious mind, a “mindlessness”. When in meditation one may go to the same “place” as in hypnosis, but no suggestions are made, either by the self or someone else. Hypnosis is goal oriented and makes direct or indirect suggestions to the subconscious mind for a specific result. These suggestions are made by either the self or someone else.
