What is the difference between hand soap, dishwashing soap, and laundry soap?
Most soaps use either true soap(animal fat or plant oil based) or synthetic detergent. Hand soaps can be either and are usually milder with moisturizers and other ingredient that make them good for hands and not much else. Dish soap for sink washing is usually detergent though not always. It is formulated to dissolve grease and oil, making it hard on skin. It also foams a great deal and should never be used in a dishwasher. Dishwashers use detergents only. These are often harsher than dish soap and are capable of removing grease. Laundry soap is commonly detergent. It doesn’t foam and often contains fabric brighteners. Never try to substitute dishwasher for laundry soap or laundry for dishwasher. You probably wouldn’t like the results.
