Murder is a form of homicide. Homicide includes capital murder, murder, manslaughter, and criminally negligent homicide. The first two are intentionally or knowingly killing someone. (you meant to do it) Manslaughter is recklessly killing someone. (it is quite obvious to the average person that the act would most likely cause a death) example: you try to shoot a person who is committing armed robbery and you hit an innocent bystander who is standing behind him, directly in the line of fire. Criminally negligent homicide is negligently killing someone. (The act posed a clear danger that could very likely cause a death, and the danger was ignored) example:You drive drunk and kill someone in a car accident when you know that driving drunk causes a danger of fatal accidents Here is the definition of homicide in chapter 19 of the Texas Penal Code: Sec. 19.01. Homicide is a term meaning death at the hands of another person. Murder, however, refers specifically to wrongful homicide. As an example, in a coroner’s report, if a person was shooting at police officers and the police shot back and killed him, his death would be ruled a homicide, even though it would be judged, by a review board or a court of law, to be rightful. Even a death with is later ruled to be accidental may be classified as homicide, meaning a hjuman killed another human, but it doesn’t carry any judgment as to the rightfulness or wrongness of the actions. I hope this helps clear things up for you.

They really are the same thing. Your question is, the difference between, “murder,” and homicide and murder IS criminal homicide. Criminal homicide occurs when a person purposely, knowingly, recklessly, or negligently causes the death of another. Murder and manslaughter are both examples of criminal homicide. http://www.nolo.com/definition.cfm/Term/…

Nothing really! A suspicious death is not a homicide until it is ruled one! There are some distinctions though. Vehicular Homicide is not murder in the classical sense as it usually is not something that one premeditates! Still amounts to the same thing though even though one is killing and the other is murder!

Any suspicious, or unnatural death is deemed a homicide, which then must be investigated to determine if a crime has been committed. Murder, manslaughter and suicide are all, types of homicide. Self-defense is another type and is considered justifiable homicide. Accidental homicides are also non-criminal examples of homicide. So, Homicide is the suspicious or unnatural death of a person and murder is the unlawful killing of a human being with malice aforethought or intent.
