What is the difference between how the grinch stole christmas and a christmas carol by charles dickens?

The Grinch acted out of jealousy for the happiness of others which he sought to destroy. His heart was touched when he saw that their happiness did not depend on material things. Scrooge acted out of greed and miserly ways. He did not try to destroy others, but did not care to make them happy at his expense. His heart was changed by fear and pain of death and hellish suffering, because of his own desires; it was by negative consequences, not because of positive ones. These are not the same story. The only similarity is that they both involve the setting and spirit of Christmas, and the main characters both had a change of heart and discovered the joy of giving and living life.
