What is the difference between Law, Guidelines and SOP’s?
CHP: A “Law” is a directive passes by the government to protect the people of the state, community or country. “Guidelines” are interpretations of laws in addition to practical application in a language well understood by the user. “SOP’s” (Standard Operating Procedures) are written procedures that outline the typical activities performed in relationship to clinical research trials. They should focus on activities required to conduct clinical research studies according to GCP and your institution’s or organization’s regulations. In addition, certain clinical trials may require the development of SOP’s to assure / promote protocol compliance.
