A. Loop carpet is loomed (manufactured) by pushing fibers through a backing material, this forms a loop that shows on the face of the carpet. The material is then passed through a machine that applies a coating to the back which locks the fibers. Cut pile carpet is made by the same process but one further step is made by shearing off the top. Different backings, quality and thickness as well as the density of fibers effect quality and cost. European automotive carpet is generally of a higher grade.  more
