Muay Thai Kickboxing is known as “The Art of Eight Limbs”, because it develops striking ability with the hands, feet, knees, and elbows. Muay Thai fighters are known for the incredible power of their kicks and knees, their ability to completely control an opponent in the Thai Clinch, and for their extreme physical conditioning. Muay Thai utilizes kicks & knees (to the legs, body, head), Punches & elbows, Plumb (Clinching/Standing Wrestling/trips & throws). Training is performed with a partner on Thai Pads, Focus Mitts, Heavy Bag, and with boxing gloves and shin pads with a partner. True Muay Thai training will also teach the Wai Kru and Ram Muay. Generally Kickboxing just emphasizes kicks & punches from Boxing, with Kickboxing competition requiring kicks to stay above the waist. Cardio Kickboxing is a fitness oriented activity that can be a great workout and improve overall health but it builds little applicable self-defense skills. Muay Thai training gives you solid self-defense skill
