This runs on Computer system and records all the moves of connected cameras to computer harddisk in desired mode. Standalone DVR is Independent Device which has its own hardware specifically designed to record/play/broadcast/manager camera videos. A harddisk is also installed in standalone DVR. The comparison is given below: PC-Based DVR Standalone DVR The cost is very reasonable compare to Standalone. About 30 %( PC required) The cost is higher. (PC not required) Easy to upgrade and increase the number of camera. No need to replace hardware. Just add more cards.
